Teens who love to read enjoy an enormous selection of books written specifically for the teen reader. However, teens who have been avid readers all their young lives are ready for books written for an older audience. It can be a challenge, though, to find a good selection of adult-level books that will specifically interest them.
Library classification does not lend itself to setting up a special section of adult-level books that teen readers will enjoy. And though bookstores often do have well-stocked teen sections, teens must either stick with choices in that section or be overwhelmed trying to decide what books in the adult section they might like.
The purpose of this site is to provide lists of books written for adults that teens will enjoy. Teachers and librarians will find books here to recommend to teens, and teens can browse these lists for books that catch their interest. It is divided into two lists: nonfiction and fiction. The nonfiction section is now also divided into sub-sections that can be accessed by clicking on tabs under the nonfiction tab.
(And oh, by the way, adults will enjoy these books also.)
(Don't forget the ALEX AWARDS, the award given annually for adult-level reading with a special appeal for a teen audience.)
Suggestions of new books to add to this list are welcome. When I get several suggestions for the same book, I will add it to my list. Please use the form below.
